The fall in the sales of smartphones in China is huge: in January 2020, the manufacturers have sent 20.8 million of the devices to the local stores, and a decrease of 38.9% compared to the same period of 2019. With the outbreak of the coronavirus that has reduced the production of components in China which has impacted on the manufacturing of mobile phones all over the world, including in Brazil.

The figures are from a research institute, an agency of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China. It highlights the fact that chinese companies, like Huawei, Xiaomi, and Oppo, it is the largest of the affected: for them the decline in the shipments of smart phones at retail stores in the country, was 42.9%.
The decline has occurred even with the rise in product launches. In China, with 34 new models of the cell phones arrived in the stores last month, 18 of which were 4G, and eight were 5 , and eight were in 2G. The increase in the number of new models, it was 6.3% compared to January of 2019 at the latest. The iphone 4G is still the dominant technology on the shelves of retail stores, with over 15 million drives shipped, but that 5.4 million of the devices had the support for the 5G.
Due to the coronavirus, and the sales of mobile phones are expected to drop into the world as a whole. Apple told investors that its forecast for turnover from US$ 63 billion to US$ 67 billion in the current quarter may not be achieved due to the outbreak. The consulting company IDC has said that global sales of smartphones are expected to drop by 10.6 per cent in the first half of the 2020s.
